I woke up early due to my internal body clock playing tricks on me. Ed had to start his conference early so I went ahead and got ready and figured I’d get breakfast before I headed to the spa. Took me a minute to figure out how to work the shower. Ever have that happen to you on vacation? I always feel like a total dork when I finally figure it out.
I had breakfast at Cafe Americano in the hotel. I sat at the bar and had a nice avocado toast with a coffee. Scrumptious. I feel kinda cool sitting at the bar by myself. A mysterious traveler lol. Who knows why she’s there or why she’s by herself…
I headed down to the Qua Baths and Spa in the hotel. This was an amazing experience. I purchased a 100 minute Qua custom massage which was not cheap, but I figured why not. It’s our anniversary and my birthday is coming up.
They take you back and had you your sandals, checking the fit first and get you squared away with a locker. Inside is a robe. It was a size large. Now I’ve lost a ton of weight but I’m not in a large just yet. I put on the robe and my crotch would have flashed the world when I sat down. That’s ok. I asked for a new size. She brings me out a 5x. Well ok then. I just needed one size up. So now I’m swimming in this one but I wasn’t going to say anything. She said I could use all the amenities for the day: the Roman baths, steam room, sauna, etc but I didn’t bring my swim suit. “No worries, it’s clothing optional or we have some disposable swimwear.” Um no thanks, not comfortable enough in my skin for either option lol.
Still exhausted from the long travel day, I’m sitting in the lounge area waiting for them to take me back. They’re playing spa music and I’m dozing off. Totally different than when I go to my aesthetician, Allissa. I prefer the hip-hop she lets me play.
Warren is my masseuse and he takes me back to the room and gets me settled in. Let me say, the massage was awesome. 100 minutes? Too long for me. I couldn’t chill. I couldn’t turn off my brain. Random shiz kept running through my head.
Warren used great pressure, he knew what was too much on areas that were tighter, got areas to loosen up. He used a cbd oil and followed up with a pain relieving lotion. He worked on neck and feet which was important to me. All in all a wonderful experience. Just costly. I did convince Ed to get one on Friday before we leave.
I went back up to the room for a bit to relax and then grabbed a taxi to head to Fremont Street / Old Vegas. I love this area. I went in the Fremont Hotel and had Steak n Shake for lunch because most are closed in the St Louis area so it sounded good. I played some video roulette. I put in $50. Blew that rather quickly. That’s ok. That game was annoying af telling me to place my bets. The “voice” got on my nerves.
I walked around some more and ended up at The D hotel and Casino. I played roulette there years ago and had a lot of fun and you can’t beat a $10 minimum bet on roulette versus the $25 at Caesar’s and the others on the strip. I played for 4 hours. I loved every minute of it. I walked out with $100 more than I started with so hey, anytime you break even is good but even better when you’re on top. While I was playing there was a huge, long rainstorm and some hail. It was crazy. Even more reason to stay inside.
I grabbed a taxi around 515 and headed back to the hotel to chill before dinner. Ed has plans tonight, I’m exhausted, so I’m just going to hit up Cafe Americano for some chicken parm and call it a night. Dinner did not disappoint-that chicken was huge. I don’t have the appetite I had before and there’s no microwave in the room so there was no taking leftovers. I did take a bread pudding to go for a snack later. I grabbed a milk at their quick mart in the lobby and headed to the room. Had some bread pudding, watched some tv, and crashed.
