“Ed, I really don’t know why the suitcase was 2 pounds overweight,” I said as I brushed my salty fingertips from my earlier Bugles snack on my pants. I avoided making eye contact with him at the gate. The fact is, I really had no idea why we had 52 lbs worth of stuff shoved in a suitcase for a 5 day trip to Vegas. But we did.

I was merely a stowaway. A tagalong! With probably 36 pounds of luggage. In all seriousness, Ed will be attending a conference while I will be exploring the city on my own during the day. We will have our evenings to hang out, but the days are my time. I didn’t mean to overpack.

We had an uneventful flight until we didn’t. For the first time, I was on a plane that landed at an airport that was closed, and we were rerouted to a different city. Due to land in Vegas at 8:10pm, at 8:25pm they announced we didn’t have enough fuel and would be headed to Ontario, California. The pilot said we’d come up with a new plan together. At this point, I’ve been up since 2 am STL time as I had insomnia once again. What’s a few more hours, right?

We had to wait for a gate because many planes were diverting to Ontario. Luckily, we refueled quickly and were back on our way. We finally landed around 11 pm. It took a bit to wait for our bag; they were busy.

This hotel is soooo lovely. I’ve never stayed at Caesars Palace before. Wow. Check-in took another 45 minutes as they were slammed with all the late flights, too. They upgraded us to a premium suite. That’s cool. I didn’t know what to expect.

This. Room. Is. Amazing. Look at the video and pictures. Wowza. I’m spoiled lol. A living room, dining room, three bathrooms, a shower, a huge jacuzzi tub, and a huge bedroom. The view of the strip is nice, too.

We finally crashed around 1 am.
